About

How Plumbers in Boston works

We run one phone number for plumbing help in Boston and the towns around it. When you call, you're connected with an independent local plumbing company. Calling costs you nothing, and you never pay us.

Calls answered day and night.Free call. We connect you with an independent local plumber.

What happens when you call

  1. You call our number and describe the problem: a leak, a clog, no hot water, a frozen pipe, a sewer backup.
  2. Your call is routed to a plumbing company that serves your area and handles that kind of job. Sometimes that happens instantly; occasionally a short prompt asks for your ZIP code first.
  3. The plumber talks to you directly. Ask for their price (or how they price the visit), when they can arrive, and their Massachusetts license number. Nothing is booked until you agree.

What we are, and what we are not

Plumbers in Boston is a free referral service. We are not a plumbing contractor and do not perform plumbing work. When you call, you are connected with an independent, locally operating plumbing company. Prices, scheduling, licensing, permits and warranties are agreed directly between you and that company. We may be paid by the companies we connect you with. Massachusetts requires plumbing and gas work to be done by licensed plumbers and gas fitters: ask for the license number and check it before work starts.

That means we don't send our own technicians, we don't set prices and we can't promise a particular company will be free at a particular hour. What we can do is put the right number in front of you quickly, and give you the information to judge whoever answers.

How we are paid

Plumbing companies, or the call network that represents them, pay for the calls they receive from this site. You pay the plumber for the work, exactly as you would if you had found them any other way. We don't add a fee and we never take payment from callers.

Why we keep telling you to check the license

In Massachusetts, plumbing and gas fitting are licensed trades, and most jobs need a permit pulled by a licensed plumber. A licensed plumber has a license number you can look up in about a minute. We wrote a step-by-step guide to checking it, because it is the single best way to protect yourself, whoever you hire.
